It is a sad incident which had taken place week. Due to wars and conflicts of that category, 11.6 million Africans have been forced from their homes. According to the United Nations, half of all the displaced people in the world due to conflicts are Africans. “Africa is the continent most affected by the scourge and tragedy of forced displacement,” the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees said in a statement. “While refugee populations have declined in recent years, internal displacement continues to rise and the number of people uprooted from their homes is mounting.”

Next week, leaders from all around Africa will gather in Uganda for a meeting to tackle this raising issue. During the week-long African Union summit that will start Monday in the capital, Kampala, the leaders are expected to sign a pledge to help the displaced across the continent, according to the U.N. agency for refugee issues. The agreement “would be the first legally binding international instrument on internal displacement having such broad regional scope,” the agency said.

In neighboring Uganda, a government spokesman said it had taken steps to ensure displaced people and refugees have access to resources to become self-sufficient.

“The numbers of displaced have drastically gone down,” Fred Opolot said. “The government offers them relocation packages, including planting seeds, cooking items and building materials.”

“Uganda does not just set up camps; it builds facilities for them,” Opolot said. “There may well be some African countries that have not followed protocols. … The summit will reassess the challenges they have and set up steps to ensure they follow international protocol.

By now you have all heard about the 2012 doomsday conspiracy. Will it happen? How will it happen? Where will it start? WILL WE SURVIVE? These are the questions you will find all over the internet when you look for discussions on ‘2012’.

I actually used to dedicate all my time to music last year so I was really quite disconnected with the world (except for those front page headlines on the newspapers). One day, one of my friends called me up and told me to check out ‘www.2012warning.com’. Initially it looked like a joke to me, I laughed at the countdown at the top of the site. But after going through that site, I started getting into this subject. I literally spent months searching the net about 2012.

Nostradamus is said to have predicted Hitler’s regime and 7/11. Though I doubt his genuinity, he is treated like god in some places. He predicted 2012 to be the end of the world.

The Mayans are said to be the world’s best astronomers. Without electronic development, their research is beyond words. The Mayan calendar ends on 2012.

But the most convincing thing for me and many others is Albert Einstein. Though Einstein didn’t say that the world will end on 2012, he gave the Pole Shift Theory. This is when the South Pole will become the North Pole and the North Pole will become the South Pole. Major catastrophes are said to take place during this shift.

I have read many different theories on the internet where some people feel that aliens are going to kill us for destroying earth (somebody seems to have seen ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ a million time too may) and some others feel that NASA did something stupid which has resulted into this so-called ‘doomsday’.

But there is one theory which I have found interesting on the web: A huge planet the size of Jupiter has an orbital track which collides with the Earth’s orbit (Nibiru). Apparently this planet will pass through earth’s orbital track every 2300 years. Once this passes through our orbit, pole shift will start on Earth and tsunamis, volcanoes, earthquakes & tornadoes will rage the planet. This will continue for two years. Then new life will form and new landscapes, new creatures, and new animals. This so-called doomsday occurs every 2300 years and the writer of this theory feels that this is the reason for the Easter Island mystery and the sinking of Atlantis.

I feel that though the above theory is interesting, it seems highly unlikely. So I guess we will never know what will happen in 2012 till 2012.

Actually the director of ‘Independence Day’ and ‘The Day after Tomorrow’ is releasing a movie called ‘2012’ this November which is based on this 2012 conspiracy. I have seen the new trailer and I am extremely satisfied with it. I really want to watch this movie and I surely recommend it to everyone.

For many people around the world, the basic aim of life is to ‘live another day’. Africa and south-east Asia has been experiencing a series of earthquakes, floods, droughts and typhoons which left millions homeless and starving. This food crisis is not just limited to the millions in south-east Asia and Africa, but also to countless number of people in over 20 countries.

Last year, due to the food riots in 20 different countries, the World Food Programme (WFP) has received a total record donation of $5bn from rich countries around the world. But now, the donations have hit a 20-year low with $2.7bn in donations. The US, which is so far the biggest donator for the WFP has donated $800m less than last year. Saudi Arabia has donated this year only $10m which is extremely low compared to the $500m donation last year. The European Union has donated $130m less than last year. Britain has donated $69m this year, which is about $100m less than their donation last year.

Ms. Josette Sheeran, head of WFP, quoted this as “loss of a generation”. According to Ms. Sheeran, even if looked under the best of circumstances the WFP will still be $2bn short by the end of the year.

Another fact is that the food rates are higher than last year in 80% of the countries. The crisis has not ended with 150 million more people suffering from hunger every year. Ms. Sheeran describes this as “a silent tsunami” and that “this is the worst food crisis since the 1970s”.

The current number of child deaths due to hunger is 16,000 children per day. This is a global crisis. In the thousands of dying children, there may be many who can become Einsteins and Mandelas.

Let us help today to save tomorrow. My sincere request to the world is to help the WFP in their righteous quest to a hunger-free world.
